This
is my quick-start guide to any roleplay. I know there are roleplayers
here that rp different from this, and that's ok, but using this method
is the best approach in my opinion. This is intended as a guide for
beginners. If there's an experienced RPer who wants to look here,
that's cool, but please don't post: "That's not how I roleplay!" Of
course it's not how you roleplay. Everyone roleplays differently. This
is intended solely as a quick start guide for beginners so they have
something to work off of.
1. Create your CC (custom character) You should be as in-depth as possible, try being creative. You could even make your CC's hair purple if you would like.
2. Make sure your grammar and creativity is up to par:
Why have this:
Jerry: *kills a first shark*
When you can have this:
Jerry:
* stabbed the first shark, sending it reeling back to the floor of the sea, the sand swarming below.* Time to die! *Kicks second shark to
the depths of the sea*
3. Hop in an open RP! I'll make an example. In this example, you play as tom.
Tom: (character being used) Hi guys! (text can use quotation if you want) *steps out of car* (use * to show action)
(the next character to act will come on the NEXT line of text, top means first!)
Jerry: Cool new car!
(changes in scene can be depicted by hitting the enter button twice.)
Also: An Important note on Godmodding, and overpowering:
1.
Godmodding is being god or moderating when you aren't the owner of the
RP, as the name implies. First of all, no one likes a godmodder. Also,
godmodding can be when you control someone elses player without their
consent
A. An example of Godmodding. Tom is the owner of the RP, Jerry a participant.
Tom's post:
I think we should skip past this part.
Later, Tom met with the others after school.
Jerry's post:
Suddenly, a swarm of materialized Kankrelats burst through the trees, endangering the group.
Tom: AHHHHH!!! *runs away screaming*
(this would be considered godmodding unless Tom told Jerry to write that. Also, he is controlling tom)
2.
Overpowering: next to godmodding, overpowering is the worst possible
thing you could do in an rp. Overpowering is simply that, overpowering
your character.
A. An example of overpowering, Jerry is the offender.
Tom's post:
Tom
looks for something to fight the Kankrelats with. Unsuccesfull, he is
hit by a laser. He then kicks a Kankrelat with extreme force, sending
it reeling back.
Jerry's post:
Jerry finds a large stick and begins wielding it expertly, Killing Kankrelats left and right.
B. Some dangerous things that may make you dangerously close to
being overpowering: Telikinesis, Teleportation, Ability to do multiple
cool things (pilot Skid and operate supercomputer, for example.) Now,
When you look at my character and say OMG he has telaportation, he's an
overpowerer?!, listen to me. These don't instantly make you an
overpowerer (what?) It's how you use them. I've limited my char to 10
foot radius.
Otherwise, the rules stated in the first post of a roleplay should suffice!
Please provide some feed-back. Also, If there's any questions about the guide or about RPing, please post them here/PM me.
